Measuring Your Walls

Learn how to properly measure your walls for a custom printed wallpaper mural

Measuring Walls for Murals or Wallpaper

Measuring your wall correctly is very important. We will print your wall mural to the size specifications you submit. No wall is perfectly straight top to bottom or left to right, therefore we print 2" extra to give you some overlap on the edges, which you will trim off when you are finished installing all the panels. We will print your mural based on the measurements you provide. Please record this information so that you will have the numbers available when you use our Image Crop Tool to place your order.

 Standard Walls

Measure the width and height of the complete wall, double-checking your measurements to make sure you have measured correctly. Do not include base boards or crown molding.

Slanted Walls

If your wall is an unusual shape or has a section that will not be covered by the mural, measure the wall on the highest and widest point, ignoring any slants or odd shapes. Do not include base boards or crown molding. The mural will be supplied as a full rectangle mural, and you will cut the slant or odd shape away after installation.

Multi-Slanted Walls

If your wall is an unusual shape or has sections that will not be covered by the mural, measure the wall on the highest and widest point, ignoring any slants or odd shapes. Do not include base boards or crown molding. The mural will be supplied as a full rectangle mural, and you will cut the slant or odd shape away after installation. We will print your mural based on the measurements you provide.

Walls with Windows and/or Doors

If your wall has any obstacles, such as windows, doors, air conditioner panels, etc., simply measure the entire wall as you would for a standard wall, then cut away the obstacles during installation. Do not include base boards or crown molding in your measurements.

Multiple Walls

If you want your mural to cover more than one wall, measure the width of each of the walls and combine this measurement into one width when ordering. Then measure the height of the highest point and use this measurement for the height when ordering. Do not include base boards or crown molding.

Staircases

Determine the highest point of the wall to be covered by the mural. You may have a space that continues up to the second floor. Make sure you measure the highest point that you want the mural to cover from top to bottom. This is your height measurement. Measure from left to right of the entire area the mural will cover. This is your width. Do not include base boards or crown molding. The mural will be supplied as a full rectangle mural, and you will cut the slant or odd shape away after installation.

We have detailed Installation Instructionsfor each material.
